How much does a music video cost?

As music video producers, we get asked one question more than any other – ‘how much does a music video cost?’ I’ve always had a pretty hard answering that question for multiple reasons (which I will get into in a bit). For the past 3 years, I’ve stumbled and stuttered my way through how to address this question head on without turning away a prospective musician from working with us. To fast forward the conversation a bit, before coming back to the pricing question, our baseline music video runs $3,000 – which includes a one location, one set up video that we will light, shoot, and edit. And from there, the variables for the video get thrown into the blender until we can create a custom package for the song and the song’s needs. The pricing game is tough – it’s a bit like pricing out a wedding ring or a new car . A potential customer can’t just call a jewelry store and say ‘how much is a diamond?’ and expect to get an intelligible answer without first knowing how big of a stone they would like and what the quality of the stone they are considering. Much is the same for the music video world. So, we begin to ask a lot of questions. And I mean a lot. Is your song mixed and mastered? Do you have any existing ideas for what you would like to video to be like? Do you already have a location we can shoot? Are we hiring models? Do we need to secure a crowd? Will we need a makeup artist? Etc. Etc. Etc. These questions are not meant to annoy you (there’s Kathy Griffin for that) but to determine if how to properly prepare an estimate for your song. Prestigious Films is excited to launch Wichita Music Videos – a one-hour Television Program airing on KCTU (Ch. 43.1) every Sunday from 8-9pm. The show will begin on January 22nd and run for 13 consecutive weeks. The program will feature music videos shot in Wichita, by Wichitans, or for Wichita Musicians. Dozens of Area Filmmakers have shared their music videos to showcase on the program and we could not be more excited about the opportunity to share the amazing work of our cities best musicians and film makers with the rest of the community. Blake Aaron Guthrie – “Missing You” (Official Music Video)

Blake is an extremely multi-talented musician who turns all over the country performing his music. He currently resides just outside of Wichita with his beautiful wife Lauren (also featured in this music video) and their dog Xander. This music video marks the release of Blake’s new album Alta Vista that is now available on iTunes, CDbaby, and Napster. The music video was produced and directed by Nicholas and Laura Barton, shot in Old Town, their home, and Sedgwick County Park – all in Wichita, KS. For the photogs out there – it was shot on the RED ONE MX Camera with an 18-85mm T2.9 Lens and edited and color corrected within the comprehensive suite of Adobe. Blake has been a long time friend and is really an amazing person. His work reflects the passion he exudes in life – we really hope you enjoy!
